For getting into the Indian Navy, one should fulfill the eligibility criteria such as educational qualification, age limit, physical standards etc. as per post they are applying for. They are required to give written test, physical fitness test, Medical Examination and interview during the selection procedure.
Career Opportunities in Indian Navy
A 10th pass student can give Indian Navy Soldier Metric Entry Recruitment Exam. This exam is held twice a year and only male unmarried Indian citizens are eligible for this examination. Candidate’s age must be between 17 to 20 years and should have pass matric with 55% marks in Science and mathematics. Aspirants can also join as a Sailor through Indian Navy Sailors Metric Entry Recruitment Exam. Other recruitments are Steward/Cooks, Seaman etc.
After 12th, contenders have to qualify UPSC NDA to join in Indian Navy and their age must not beyond the range 16 1/2 years to 19 years. Only unmarried Indian male can do NDA and they need to give Written Exam, Interview and Medical Test. Applicants can also enroll for SSR (Senior Secondary Recruits).
Diploma holders can also apply for the posts such as engineer, mechanical engineer
commander and many more. Contenders with minimum 50 to 60% marks are eligible. For getting into Navy, aspirants can also give Indian Navy Direct Entry Artificer (Diploma Holders) Examination and they should fulfill the age limit of 18 – 22 years and the physical standards.
Contenders, who have completed B.Tech, must qualify in CDS exam. CDS (Combined Defense Service Exam) is conducted by UPSC in twice time in a year. Final Year student are also eligible for CDSE exam and their age should be in between 19 years to 22 years. Selection Procedure consist Written Exam, Interview and Medical test.
